Many of the parents that seek knowledge about how to acquire their kids with life skills does so because they come from pain.
These parents have had an unhappy childhood and the pain that they carry with them is the motivator – often to a degree of a burning desire – to better their kid’s life. Coming from pain they wish to equip them with knowledge, understanding and tools that will enable them to shape a better life for themselves.
I find this phenomenon fascinating for two reasons:
Pain is a very strong motivator for change. Parents that are fuled by it should make sure it comes with softness, that their (selfish) desire to better their kid’s life won’t cause more harm than good.
Pain is a wonderful motivator as long as it comes with compassion and reflection.
The last thing you want is to inflict on your kid the same pain you’ve underwent while you bare the purest intentions.
